OVERVIEW
City of Muscatine in need of an Evidence Custodian.


Job Responsibilities
Candidate will be under the general supervision of the Muscatine Police Department Captain of Patrol, the Evidence Custodian is solely responsible for the security, lawful handling, and lawful disposal of found, seized and contraband property taken in by the Muscatine Police Department. These duties include but are not limited to, the storage and organization of evidence/property, the purging and/or return of all evidence/property, recording the chain of custody and final disposition for all evidence/property, the tidiness and cleanliness of the all evidence storage areas, and the immediate random recall of any evidence/property through random audits and inspections of the evidence storage areas. The evidence custodian is also responsible for keeping an accurate record of everyone who might enter or access the evidence storage areas.
In addition to these general duties, the evidence custodian is required to be familiar with Iowa laws and department regulations as they pertain to the processing, retention, release and disposition of evidence/property. This requires sound problem-solving skills, analytical acumen, computer skills, and application of state and federal laws as they pertain to evidence/property.
The evidence custodian should have a good disposition and be experienced in establishing and maintaining a cooperative working relationship with department personnel and outside government agencies. Must demonstrate good interpersonal and communication skills.


Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift packages up to 50 lbs. in weight unassisted.
Must be able to go up and down stairs, steps and ladders.
Must be able to sit at a desk and work with a computer for periods of extended durations.
Must be able to read, write and understand the English language.


Hours/Pay
$14hr

40 hours a week with some flexibility on hours.

A local logistics company is seeking warehouse help related to repackaging, receipt, shipping, storage, and distribution. This position will also assist in loading, unloading, and move or store items by hand or equipment according to delivery, routing, or supervisor instructions.  Positions are 1st shift and Temp to Hire.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
• Count items received and verify them against packing lists, recording any discrepancies, or damage.
• Re-pack material or product
• Ability to read documents and/or follow a verbal instruction to determine the materials or products to be shipped and how the order is to be shipped.
• Lift heavy objects by hand/or by the use of a hand truck, gas or electric powered forklift, or other material handling equipment.
• Enter all information required on the shipping or receiving documents and/or appropriate forms relating to piece counts.
• Checks forklifts daily, prior to use, for any unsafe conditions.
• Load trucks with material and product ready for shipment. Unload trucks containing purchased material, product, and/or supplies.
• Follow all safety policies and procedures, and attend training classes when required.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Mathematical skills-basic addition, subtraction, division, multiplication…etc.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished.
