Operations Technician 1 sets-up, prepares and monitors manufacturing machine/equipment pertaining to the furnace and/or grinding operation for the plant. They also perform additional duties assigned as required/tasked.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Operate front-end loader, forklift, sweeper, shredder, sifters, mills, dryer, and other grinding department equipment safely and efficiently; perform required shift checks, inspections, fueling, and minor maintenance.
• Manage cullet handling, including pile dressing, shredder loading, contamination removal, and monitoring for quality or equipment concerns.
• Monitor and operate raw material processing and sifting equipment to maintain proper tank levels, production rates, grain gradation, and furnace support.
• Perform routine equipment inspections, troubleshooting, wear-part and screen changes, leak prevention, and basic maintenance/greasing as needed.
• Monitor dryer operations, gas rates, tank levels, and furnace/dryer gas safety checks to ensure safe and efficient operation.
• Perform and document in-process quality checks on coarse, medium, and fine grains; take corrective action when non-conformances are identified.
• Monitor bulk dust loading operations and coordinate with lead operators and management.
• Maintain accurate production, quality, equipment, and process logs and electronic records.
• Monitor environmental conditions and take appropriate investigative and corrective actions to maintain compliance.
• Assist furnace operators and maintenance personnel as needed to support department and plant goals.
• Communicate effectively during shift changes to ensure safe, efficient, and continuous operations.
• Maintain clean and orderly work areas, including assigned housekeeping duties and cleaning of magnets and equipment.
• Operate in compliance with all health, safety, environmental, quality, production, and cost-control requirements.
• Participate in HSE, quality, productivity, hazard identification, safety committee, and work procedure initiatives.
• Support lead operators, supervisors, maintenance, and plant personnel as a team member.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

The Confined Space Rescue Technician is responsible for providing emergency response and technical rescue services during permit-required confined space (PRCS) operations. This position supports industrial clients by conducting confined space rescue operations, assisting with hazard assessments, developing rescue pre-plans, and ensuring the safe execution of confined space entry activities.

Technicians are deployed as part of an emergency response team based on the hazards associated with each project. They utilize specialized rescue equipment, atmospheric monitoring instruments, and respiratory protection to respond to potentially hazardous and immediately dangerous to life or health (IDLH) environments.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform technical rescue operations in permit-required confined spaces, including IDLH environments.
• Participate in confined space rescue operations involving non-entry rescue, high-angle rescue, and entry rescue using self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) or supplied-air respiratory protection, as required.
• Assist in the development and implementation of written confined space rescue pre-plans specific to each permit-required confined space.
• Conduct hazard assessments and identify potential risks associated with confined space entry and rescue operations.
• Operate and maintain confined space rescue equipment, including atmospheric monitoring instruments, intrinsically safe fans, blowers, and respiratory protection equipment.
• Perform atmospheric monitoring and assist in maintaining safe environmental conditions during confined space operations.
• Provide confined space entry, attendant, and supervisory support to client projects when required.
• Work collaboratively with rescue team members, client personnel, and project supervisors to ensure safe and effective rescue operations.
