OVERVIEW

Operations Technician 1 sets-up, prepares and monitors manufacturing machine/equipment pertaining to the furnace and/or grinding operation for the plant. They also perform additional duties assigned as required/tasked.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operate front-end loader, forklift, sweeper, shredder, sifters, mills, dryer, and other grinding department equipment safely and efficiently; perform required shift checks, inspections, fueling, and minor maintenance.
  • Manage cullet handling, including pile dressing, shredder loading, contamination removal, and monitoring for quality or equipment concerns.
  • Monitor and operate raw material processing and sifting equipment to maintain proper tank levels, production rates, grain gradation, and furnace support.
  • Perform routine equipment inspections, troubleshooting, wear-part and screen changes, leak prevention, and basic maintenance/greasing as needed.
  • Monitor dryer operations, gas rates, tank levels, and furnace/dryer gas safety checks to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Perform and document in-process quality checks on coarse, medium, and fine grains; take corrective action when non-conformances are identified.
  • Monitor bulk dust loading operations and coordinate with lead operators and management.
  • Maintain accurate production, quality, equipment, and process logs and electronic records.
  • Monitor environmental conditions and take appropriate investigative and corrective actions to maintain compliance.
  • Assist furnace operators and maintenance personnel as needed to support department and plant goals.
  • Communicate effectively during shift changes to ensure safe, efficient, and continuous operations.
  • Maintain clean and orderly work areas, including assigned housekeeping duties and cleaning of magnets and equipment.
  • Operate in compliance with all health, safety, environmental, quality, production, and cost-control requirements.
  • Participate in HSE, quality, productivity, hazard identification, safety committee, and work procedure initiatives.
  • Support lead operators, supervisors, maintenance, and plant personnel as a team member.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

EXPERIENCE

  • 1+ year of experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment
  • 1+ year of experience operating production machinery and equipment
  • 1+ year of forklift operation experience; forklift certification preferred

EDUCATION

  • High school diploma/ GED required
  • Post high school technical school or college is a plus

JOB TYPE

  • Full-Time
  • 7 pm – 7am; rotating nights
  • $22.84/hr.
